‘Chesire’ is a font created by hand-sketch before digitalizing for school project. My intended approach was to combine my love for Halloween and my desire to experiment with something whismy and different than what I normally make. I leaned more towards the creepy and ornate gothic decorative scripts found in Tim Burton’s works and “Alice in Wonderland“. The foot of certain letters have elongated descenders or tails that drag below or above the character baseline or even wrapped around neighboring letters to show action or direction.

My initial alphabets first started off completely inconsistent and unreadable, particularly the letter ‘F’ was the most challenging letters of all. While digitalizing, I grew frustrated. But my little mistake ended up being part of my design where there’s certain curves found in letters ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘E’, and ‘F’.
